At BRECO, we take our mission seriously to assist our member-owners build and secure their financial success. Being a not-for-profit, we return earnings back to members in the form of better interest rates, reduced or no fees and quality personal service; all because our focus is on serving our members and not on making profits.
BRECO, chartered in 1934, was first chartered by a group of utility employees from the Baton Rouge Electric Company, which merged with Gulf States Utilities in 1938 and then with Entergy in 1994. We are still a SEG based (non-Community Chartered) medium-size credit union serving 5,000 members and have $45 million in assets. The major SEGs or Select Employee Groups we serve are Entergy, APTIM, DEMCO, MMR, CAAWS (Capital Area Animal Welfare Society), and IBEW Local 995. See our full SEG list.
